A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SIGNAL HILL, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING THE 2025 COMMEMORATIVE FLAG DISPLAY SCHEDULE

Fiscal Impact:
There is no fiscal impact associated with the recommended action. Pursuant to the City Council’s adopted Commemorative Flag Policy, any flag scheduled for display would be purchased by the requesting party and provided to the City for the duration of the display.
Background and Analysis:
At the November 12, 2024, City Council meeting, the City Council directed staff to prepare a resolution memorializing the commemorative flags selected for display in the 2025 calendar year. Additionally, City Council directed staff to engage with the Cambodian and Thai communities, to identify an appropriate commemorative flag to honor the Cambodian and Thai New Year in April, in lieu of the national flags. Staff reached out to the respective communities to initiate discussion about an appropriate commemorative flag design.
The proposed 2025 Commemorative Flag Display Schedule is shown in Attachment C. Based upon City Council direction regarding the commemorative flags for the Cambodian and Thai New Year, staff would amend the schedule and resolution to reflect the direction provided by the City Council.
