Summary:
A. SCC QUORUM GUIDELINES: The 2021 SCC rules state that a quorum is a simple majority of the total members, including alternates, making a seven person attendance a quorum (see attached). At the request of SCC Chair Savoulian the SCC may want to consider having the quorum changed to a simple majority of the regular members only, changing the quorum total to six members.
B. MAYOR’S CLEAN-UP EVENT: The Fall Mayor’s Clean-Up event is typically held in the months of September or October. Staff is requesting the Mayor and SCC members to choose a date for the fall event. The next Mayor’s Clean-Up area is the Central Neighborhood. Staff will inquire with Signal Hill Petroleum whether the base camp may be located in the parking lot of their corporate offices on Cherry Avenue, or on their vacant property south of Mother’s Market.
C. CITY’S WEBSITE: At past SCC meetings, committee members have emphasized the necessity for updates to the SCC page on the City website. Staff will present updates regarding website improvements.
D. ENERGY ACTION AWARD STATUS: Staff will provide an update on the City’s newest award status of the Gateway Cities Energy Action Award program. As of July 1, 2024, Signal Hill has moved up to silver status. The deadline to report activities throughout the year is Mid-November. There is still time to rise to the next level, gold.
E. SCC POLICIES: During the May SCC Meeting, Committee Member Wong raised a topic for future agenda consideration concerning SCC policies and their compliance status.
